Dr. Roy Stoller
Hair Transplant Surgeon
Hair Transplant & Facial Plastic Surgeon
Dr. Roy Stoller is widely regarded as a pioneer in modern hair transplantation, bringing more than 25 years of dedicated experience and over 6,000 hair restoration procedures to the surgeons treating patients at Hair Restoration Institute of Minnesota. He is known for an integrated approach that combines every proven surgical and non-surgical method available, customizing each patient's treatment plan around their unique hair and scalp characteristics rather than a one-size-fits-all protocol.
Education & Training
Dr. Stoller earned his medical degree from the New York Institute of Technology College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1985 and completed his General Surgery residency at the Hospital of the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. He went on to serve as a Facial Plastic Surgeon in the United States Air Force at Andrews Air Force Base, where he also worked as a clinical instructor of resident physicians and was awarded the USAF Meritorious Service Award for his contributions.
Board Certifications & Recognition
Dr. Stoller is double board certified in Facial Plastic Surgery and Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery through the American Osteopathic College of Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery, and holds fellowship status approved by both the American Medical Association and the American Osteopathic Association. He is listed in Who's Who in American Medicine and has been ranked among the top 1% of hair restoration physicians nationally by Vitals' Top 10 Doctors.
Clinical Expertise
Dr. Stoller performs both Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) and Follicular Unit Transplantation (FUT), and is among a small number of board-certified facial plastic surgeons to offer the ARTAS Robotic Hair Restoration System, having presented on robotic technique at the ARTAS User's Meeting. He also treats hair loss non-surgically and is the inventor and patent holder of the RS Laser Cap, a low-level laser therapy device designed to support hair regrowth.
Leadership & Academic Contributions
Dr. Stoller has held some of the most prominent leadership positions in the field, including Medical Director for Hair Club and Medical Director of one of the first hospital-affiliated hair restoration fellowship programs, based at Southampton Hospital. He serves as an author and examiner for board certification exams in hair restoration surgery, sits on the Ethics Committee of the International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery (ISHRS), and has led Follicular Unit Extraction workshops at ISHRS meetings. In May 2016, he became the first American physician invited to lecture on comprehensive hair restoration at the Colombian Association of Cosmetic Surgery, where he received an Award of Excellence in Teaching.
Practice Philosophy
Patients consistently describe Dr. Stoller as willing to spend substantial time with them at every stage of care, from consultation through recovery. He is known for giving patients direct, personal access to him for follow-up, and for an unwavering focus on producing natural-looking, age-appropriate results through transparent, honest treatment planning.
